Local knowledge
A county of very different local markets
West Kent, covering Sevenoaks, Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells, is affluent, commuter-heavy, and businesses there compete on polish and credibility. Mid Kent, centred on Maidstone, mixes professional services with a large trades and home services base. East Kent, from Canterbury and Folkestone down the coast to Dover, carries more tourism and independent retail, with a university city sitting in the middle of it.
Trades businesses are a category of their own wherever they sit: plumbers, electricians, landscapers and builders live or die on local search and a well-run Google Business Profile, far more than on design awards.
We're based in Gillingham, roughly in the middle of it. That means we're close enough to meet Medway and mid-Kent clients in person, and experienced enough with remote delivery to work just as well with clients in Ashford, Canterbury, or Tunbridge Wells who we rarely see face to face.

Local search
Why local search decides who gets the enquiry
Your Google Business Profile carries more weight than your website
Map results sit above standard listings and take most of the clicks for "near me" searches. A profile with recent photos, accurate hours and steady reviews outperforms a beautiful, neglected site.
Naming the areas you serve is what lets Google rank you for them
A Rainham plumber who never mentions Gillingham, Chatham or Rochester by name is invisible to searches from those towns, however good the work is.
Speed and mobile experience decide whether someone stays or leaves
Most local searches in Kent happen on a phone, often on mobile data on the move. A slow page loses the visitor before they've read a word.
Common mistakes
Where Kent businesses go wrong with location pages
Publishing one page per town with identical copy
Google recognises this pattern as doorway pages. Five pages with real substance beat twenty templated ones every time.
Claiming coverage you don't really have
Listing every town in the county when you only work within half an hour produces enquiries you can't serve.
Neglecting the Google Business Profile
For local searches the map pack usually appears above every standard result. It costs nothing to complete properly.
Inconsistent business details across the web
If your address or phone number appears differently across your site, profile and old listings, you weaken the signal Google relies on.
Questions
Kent web design questions
How much does a website cost in Kent?+
Ours start from £800, with a fixed quote before any work begins. Most small businesses land somewhere between £800 and £3,000 for a properly built custom site.
Do I need to be in Kent to work with you?+
No. We're in Gillingham and most of our work is across the county, but we also build for clients nationally and internationally.
Will you come and meet me?+
Happy to, anywhere reasonably local. Plenty of projects run entirely remotely and turn out just as well.
Do you charge more for areas further away?+
No. Pricing is based on the project, not the postcode.
How long does a website take?+
Two to four weeks for most projects, from the point we have your content.
My town isn't listed, do you still cover it?+
Almost certainly. The pages and lists here are the areas we work in most, not a limit. Get in touch and ask.
