Web Design in Maidstone for Businesses That Need to Be Chosen

Maidstone has more competition than most Kent towns. I build websites that give local businesses a reason to be picked, not just found. Fixed prices from £800, live in two to four weeks.

Local coverage

Why Maidstone businesses need more than a template

Maidstone is the county town, and its business mix reflects that. Professional services cluster around the town centre and Week Street, legal and financial firms sit near the county courts, independent retail runs through the Royal Star Arcade and Fremlin Walk, and a large base of trades and home services covers Allington, Barming, Bearsted, Penenden Heath and Downswood.

Those businesses are competing very differently. A solicitor is competing on credibility and will lose a client because their site looks like it was built a decade ago. A landscaper is competing on local search and will lose a job because they don't appear on the map when someone searches from Bearsted. Same town, two completely different website problems, and they need two completely different solutions.

There is also more competition here than in the Medway towns. Maidstone has a bigger population, a wider catchment pulling in from the villages, and businesses that have been established online for years. Search almost any trade here and you'll find a full page of results plus paid ads sitting above them. Simply existing online isn't enough.

What actually moves the needle is unglamorous. Your site has to load quickly on a phone using mobile data, make it obvious what you do within about three seconds, give someone an easy way to get in touch without filling in a fourteen-field form, and be structured so Google understands both what you offer and where you offer it. Get those four right and you're ahead of most of your competition before you've spent a penny on advertising.

What tends to work here

Naming your districts, not just "Maidstone"
Showing pricing when competitors hide it
Real photos of your team and work
A Google Business Profile with recent reviews
Fast mobile pages, most searches are on phones
A clear next step, above the fold

Who this is for

The Maidstone businesses I build for

Professional Services

Solicitors, accountants and consultants around the town centre. The website's job here is credibility. Clear people, clear expertise, no stock photography, and a site that loads like a business worth paying for.

Trades & Home Services

Builders, electricians, landscapers and plumbers covering Maidstone and the surrounding villages. These live or die on local search, so the Google Business Profile and the map results matter more than the site's design awards.

Independent Retail & Hospitality

Shops, cafés and salons around Fremlin Walk and the Royal Star Arcade. Mobile is everything, most people are looking you up while walking towards you, so opening hours, location and photos have to be instant.

What to fix

What a Maidstone site usually leaves out

Built for desktop, used on mobile

The majority of local searches happen on a phone, often on mobile data. Sites designed on a big monitor and never properly tested on a handset lose people in seconds.

No mention of areas served

Plenty of Maidstone sites never name Bearsted, Allington or the villages they cover. If the page doesn't say it, Google can't confidently rank you for it.

Hidden pricing

Most competitors hide their prices entirely. Being upfront filters out the wrong enquiries and builds trust with the right ones before they've even called.

A neglected Google Business Profile

The map results sit above the normal listings and take most of the clicks. An out-of-date profile with a handful of old reviews quietly costs you work every week.

Questions

Maidstone web design questions

Do you actually work with Maidstone businesses?+

Yes. I'm in Gillingham, around 25 minutes up the A229, and a good share of my work is across mid Kent. Most of the process runs remotely, and I'll meet in person when it's genuinely useful.

Why is it harder to rank in Maidstone?+

More businesses competing for the same searches, and more of them running ads. It means the basics have to be done properly: site speed, structure, your Google Business Profile and steady reviews.

What does a website cost?+

From £800, with a fixed quote before anything starts. No hourly billing and no surprise extras.

Do I have to use Wix?+

It's what I specialise in, and I'm Wix Legend Partners, which is the top tier. The practical benefit for you is that you can update the site yourself afterwards without paying a developer for every text change.

Do you only build new sites, or redesigns too?+

Both. A fair share of my Maidstone enquiries are businesses with a site that worked five years ago and hasn't kept up. I can rebuild it or take over an existing Wix site.
