More businesses start in Dartford each year than anywhere else in Kent, and most of them need a first website that actually works. Fixed prices from £800, live in two to four weeks.

Why Dartford businesses need more than a template

Dartford does not behave like the rest of Kent. It has the county's highest rate of new business formation, its youngest population, and the highest share of working age people in work. Ebbsfleet is still being built, The Bridge keeps filling, and the Crossing puts Essex and east London inside half an hour. Commercially it is the outer edge of London.

That creates an unusual amount of churn. Dartford has the highest business birth rate in Kent and, at the same time, the worst five year survival rate in the county at 30.1 percent. You are competing in a market that constantly refreshes itself, where the firm that beat you to a job last year may well not exist by the end of the next one.

For a website, that cuts both ways. There is a steady supply of businesses that have never had a proper site to sell to. But nobody here has a twenty year reputation to coast on either, so a customer choosing between you and a competitor is starting from scratch, usually on a phone, usually in well under a minute of landing on the page.

Retail has its own problem. Bluewater sits inside the borough and takes the footfall a town centre would normally get. If you trade in Dartford itself you are not just competing with the shop next door, you are competing with a destination that has free parking and hundreds of stores. Being findable, and being worth the trip, is most of the game.

What tends to work here

A real site from day one, not a placeholder
Clear pricing, nobody has heard of you yet
Naming Stone, Greenhithe and Swanscombe
Reviews collected early and shown up front
Fast mobile pages, most searching is mobile
A reason to choose you over Bluewater

Who this is for

The Dartford businesses I build for

New & Early Stage

First website, first branding, often within a year of launching. The job is making a six month old business look like a safe choice, because the customer has no other way of telling one from another yet.

Trades & Construction

Builders, electricians and fit out firms working across Ebbsfleet, The Bridge and the new estates. Constant new housing means constant new customers, none of whom have anybody local to ask for a recommendation.

Logistics & B2B

Distribution, haulage and service firms clustered around the Crossing and the A2. The site is a credibility check before a purchase order, so capability and contact routes matter far more than styling.

What to fix

What a Dartford site usually leaves out

Still on the placeholder

More common here than anywhere else I work, because so many businesses are new. A holding page with a logo and an email address tells a customer you might not be around next year, which is the wrong signal.

No prices anywhere

In a town where nobody knows your name, hiding your prices leaves the customer no way to judge you except by guessing. A guide range does more work here than it would in an established market.

No reviews on show

New businesses have the fewest reviews and need them most. If you have collected any at all, they belong on the homepage, not buried on a page that nobody ever actually visits.

Ignoring the new developments

Ebbsfleet, The Bridge, Stone and Greenhithe are where the new customers live. Sites that only ever say Dartford miss searches happening a mile away in a postcode that did not exist ten years ago.

Questions

Dartford web design questions

Do you actually work with Dartford businesses?+

Yes. I'm in Gillingham, around 30 minutes along the A2, so north west Kent is comfortably within reach. Most of the process runs remotely and I'll meet in person when it is genuinely useful.

We have only just started trading. Is it too early for a proper website?+

It is the best time. Dartford has the highest rate of new business formation in Kent, which means your competition is also new and also unknown. Getting a real site up early is one of the few ways to look like the safer choice.

How do we compete with Bluewater?+

You do not, not on their terms. You compete on being local, being specific and being easy to deal with. That is a website and a Google listing job, and most of your competitors are not doing it properly.

What does a website cost?+

From £800, fixed and agreed before I start. For a new business, that matters, because you know the number going in and it does not move afterwards.

Do you cover Ebbsfleet, Greenhithe and Stone?+

Yes, and Swanscombe, Wilmington and Bean. If you serve those areas your site should name them, and I will make sure it does.
